Bardo On The Way

So last Saturday, February 4. We finally bought the new old car Jeff's been dreaming of. Notice I said new/old, because it is literally old and new, old cos it's a 2nd hand car though I'm not sure how many owners that car had before it belongs to us and new because it's new with us. Jeff spent 2 months to snag a deep research about it and even traded his Saturdays on being with us to going to places where he can find the right car. We want to restore (him particularly) a Volkswagen Beetle, we still don't have the moolah to acquire a Fortuner or a Mazda 3 so we go for the one na medyo may katotohanan. Pero infairness ha hindi madaling maghanap ng kocheng kuba, halos yung mga nakikita namin na binebenta, restored na that ranges from 150K to 500K. Jeff's budget for the bug is 50k lang, he's looking for a beetle na kahit sira yung kaha basta umaandar, madali na daw kasi yun, what's important is, it is road worthy. So he didn't mind looking over the internet even if it takes forever to find one. And ayun na nga, nakakita din kami and hindi sa internet.

How we find Bardo:
When Jeff told me he wants to buy a beetle, I suggest we ask Elaine cos I remember, she mentioned to me na may kilala yung tito nya na mekaniko na nagbebenta, so we asked Elaine to contact her uncle and ask if there's an available bug. It took din mga 1 month bago nakahanap yung mekaniko. We're thankful pa din na kahit matagal e nakahanap sya. The owner is a Brgy. Captain in Bocaue Bulacan, hindi na daw naaasikaso yung sasakyan kasi busy sa politics. More than 1 year na daw na hindi nagagamit and halata naman kasi when we checked the car, ang dumi at super rotten look na talaga though ok naman yung kaha, may konting scratches pero madali lang naman daw ayusin yun. I don't have an idea how Jeff checks it, bilang araw araw nga syang nag babasa ng anything na tungkol sa beetle, may mga alam na sya sa engine and some parts. Medyo naexcite sya, kaya nagdecide sya na bilin na namin yun. We were told to prepare 25k but the owner gave it to us at 20,000 lang though umabot din ng 26,000 kasama yung cut nung mekaniko, Elaine's tito, gas para mahakot sa talyer, etc. From the start, we are planning to have it painted black with pink and white interiors. To our surprise, black yung binebenta! Spell serendipity?! Haha! Btw, it is a 1972 model from Germany. Imagine, mas matanda pa sa amin yung koche. Medyo creepy!

Why Bardo?
We also spend so much time thinking of a good name for the car. Kahit hindi pa kami nakakahanap/nakakabili nagiisip na kami ng magandang name. We thought of so many names like Barbee, Bembolbee, Bokie, Buluts basta it has to start with B. Gusto pa ni Jeff, girl na name, sabi ko -ang dami na nga naming babae sa buhay mo dadagdagan mo pa? (Me, Soleil, his Mom and Ate) Boy nalang! Nag agree naman sya. Then I told him, bakit hindi nalang Bardo? --When I was a kid, my parents used to call me Barda (short for Bardagul, meaning mataba, sobrang taba) kasi daw ganun ako nung bata, at matakaw! When he visited me sa house nung bago palang kaming mag on, narinig nya na tinawag ako na Barda ng magulang ko, ewan ko kung nagandahan sya sa name na yun or what kasi simula nun tinatawag na din nya ko na Barda. When we got married, his friends heard him calling me Barda, they also got curious with the name so they asked for the meaning. After that, they started calling him Bardo. So that makes us B1 and B2. Barda and Bardo. Cute diba? May story pa. Hahaha!

Now, the car is in Sapang Palay, sa talyer, kasi may mga pinaayos si Jeff, at kailangan din talagang ayusin kasi na stock sya ng more than 1 year. Eventhough we already bought it, matagal pa bago namin magagamit. Sobrang dami pang dapat ipaayos. After nung makina, yung loob naman like yung upuan, sidings, papalitan ng paint. Sobrang dami pa. Mura nga namin na nakuha pero sabi nung friend ni Jeff na naunang nag restore, madugong restoration pa daw un. Good luck kay Jeff! Hahaha!

Taray no?! Pero jusko!! 500,000 daw ang inabot nyan. Malayo sa katotohanan! Hahaha. Kaya kahit ano nalang basta umayos. I'm so friggin eggzited! Teehee!
